Sweet Banana Spring Rolls

Sweet Banana Spring Rolls

  • 6-8 pieces ripe plaintain bananas (saging na saba in the Philippines), cut in half lengthwise, about 3″length
  • 12 – 15 pieces spring roll wrappers
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cooking oil

COOKING TIME : 20 minutes

1 Separate the ingredients: spring roll wrappers, peeled and sliced banana, sugar.

2 Lay the wrapper, dip the banana in sugar and put on one end of the wrapper (you may put a slice of jackfruit for added flavor and aroma).

3 Fold the wrapper with the filling and roll up to the end. Tuck in the edges and seal the ends with egg whites.

4 Heat up the oil in medium heat for about 8 minutes and fry the wrapped banana with the sealed end side down first (to keep it sealed). Cook until slightly brown.

5 Flip to fry the other side, and once slightly browned, sprinkle sugar(1 tablespoon per roll) onto the oil to caramelize and glaze the fried roll.

6 Cook until golden brown.

7 Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

8 Serve hot. Serves 3-4 persons.
