Jerrick Ahanmisi set a record for the most points scored by a rookie in his first game as he sizzled with 28 points. And there is Rob Manalang who seems to emerge as a potential back court leader not only for the Falcons but for the whole league as he scored 16 points and dished out 9 assist. He was steady all throughout the game making the right decisions in tight situations.

Looking at the two, one cannot avoid but compare them with the backcourt tandem of Ren Ren Ritualo and Mike Cortez during De La Salle’s title run in the late 90’s and early 2000’s under who else but the Falcons’ current Head Coach, Franz Pumaren.

The back court duo was supported by Dawn Ochea’s 13 points, 4 rebounds and issued 2 assist. It seems like the 4th year player out of Sacred Heart-Ateneo de Cebu has gotten the confidence that he needed to get out of his shell and may have a break-out year.

Former La Salle guard and transferee Terrence Mustre also made a good account of his Adamson debut scoring 9 points. Should the Falcons mature more in playing the Franz Pumaren system which produced 5 championships for DLSU, the boys from San Marcelino are poised to achieve greater heights this season.
